We recommend draught regulators

Bullerjan and many other stove producers recommend the use of a draught regulator / secondary air device.
The draught regulator ensures a permanently constant draught in the chimney. This ensures a significantly lower consumption of wood, protects the environment and – last but not least – the stove.

Regardless of the results that a chimney calculation program outputs after input of the present values, it must be taken into account that the chimney has a basic draught/vacuum of at least 5 Pascal (Pa) in the cold state.

If the basic draught is too low, smoke gas may enter the installation room during the initial combustion phase. The maximum draught that the chimney has during heating operation must not exceed 16 Pascal (Pa). If the draught is too high, the wood burns off too quickly and the stove cannot fully develop its heating and environmental qualities.

In extreme cases, a too high chimney draught leads to damage to the furnace and especially to the catalyst. Furthermore, under these conditions, ash from the combustion chamber can lift into the catalyst, which in turn can lead to a malfunction of the furnace and possibly flue gas leakage into the installation room.
